How to Edit DVD VOB Files Using VobBlanker VobBlanker is a powerful, free tool designed to edit DVD VOB files without re-encoding the video. It allows you to strip out unwanted trailers, FBI warnings, menus, or audio tracks while keeping the original DVD structure intact. This guide explains how to use VobBlanker to clean up and customize your DVD files. Step 1: Prepare Your DVD Files
VobBlanker cannot edit files directly from a copy-protected commercial disc. Insert your DVD into your computer drive.
Use a ripping tool (like VLC or MakeMKV) to copy the entire VIDEO_TS folder to your hard drive.
Ensure you have enough disk space, as you will need room for both the original files and the edited output. Step 2: Load the Video Files into VobBlanker
Once your files are on your hard drive, open the software to import them. Launch VobBlanker. Click the Browse button next to the Input Folder field.
Select the VIDEO_TS.IFO file from the DVD folder you copied to your computer.
Click the Browse button next to the Output Folder field and choose a new, empty folder where your edited DVD files will be saved. Step 3: Identify the Video Segments
The main interface will now display the structure of your DVD.
Look at the top pane, which lists the Video Title Sets (VTS). The largest file size usually represents the main movie.
Click on a VTS row to reveal its individual titles and chapters in the bottom pane.
Select a title in the bottom pane and click the Preview button on the right side to watch the footage and verify what you are editing. Step 4: Blank Out Unwanted Content
Blanking replaces a video segment with a tiny, blank black frame, effectively deleting the content while preserving the DVD navigation navigation rules.
Select the specific title, trailer, or warning logo you want to delete from the bottom pane. Look at the action buttons on the right side of the screen.
Click the Blank button. The status of that segment will change from “Keep” to “Blank.”
Repeat this process for any other extra features or intros you want to remove. Step 5: Strip Audio or Subtitle Tracks (Optional)
If you want to remove specific language tracks or commentary to save space, you can do so within the cell view. Select the main movie title in the bottom pane. Click the Strip button on the right side.
A new window will appear showing all audio and subtitle streams.
Uncheck the boxes for the language tracks or commentaries you no longer want to keep. Click Apply. Step 6: Process and Save the New DVD
After marking all your changes, you are ready to create the edited version.
Review the input and output paths at the top of the window one last time. Click the Process button at the bottom of the interface.
Monitor the progress bar; the software will write the modified files to your designated output folder.
Once finished, open your media player to test the files from the output folder before burning them to a blank DVD.
